Global Fund Backs Sierra Leone with $136 Million to Ramp Up Health Fight

On Friday, July 14, 2024, the Global Fund, led by Mark Eldon-Edington and his team from Geneva, has officially presented a cheque to President Julius Maada Bio with a grant totaling over $136 million to help in the country's fight against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

President Bio expressed gratitude for the continued partnership with Global Fund and emphasized the significance of good health in driving economic productivity and social well being. He also expressed deep gratitude for this vital support, highlighting his government's unwavering commitment to enhancing health care access as a means to boost human capital development. 

The grant launch ceremony signals a new chapter in Sierra Leone's fight against these critical diseases and underscores the collaborative efforts between the government and Global Fund to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
